Tracking Settlement Spending

This dashboard provides an overview of funds received, funds spent, and funds remaining by subdivision and year, in addition to subdivision-specific expenditure details. It is designed to promote transparency and allow users to understand how resources are being allocated and utilized. Unspent funds do not necessarily indicate inaction. Common reasons include:

• Conducting planning or needs assessments to identify the best use of funding

• Experiencing delays in contracting or procurement

• Reserving funds for future initiatives

• Addressing local government capacity

• Context matters when interpreting these figures.

The MOSS Center is a nonpartisan, centralized source of information related to the allocation of opioid settlement funds. The Center does not perform auditing or compliance reviews of expenditure data. The spending information presented in the MOSS Center dashboard is derived from self-reported expenditure submissions from subdivisions, the Maine Recovery Council, and the Office of the Attorney General. The Opioid Settlement Fund expenditures of these entities are under the oversight and reporting obligations established in the Opioid Settlement agreements.
